I often work with folks who are experiencing struggles with their mental health or simply want to work towards positive change in their wellbeing. Sometimes these struggles are a diagnosed mental health condition that can be treated with therapy. Other times, folks are experiencing stress and just looking for support from a psychologist.

I am a Registered Psychologist (R0950) with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology. I have practised across Nova Scotia, in public healthcare (Nova Scotia Health) and with the Department of National Defense and Canadian Armed Forces members. I completed my academic training at Brock University (Bachelor of Arts Honours Psychology with First Class Standing) and Acadia University (Master of Science Honours Clinical Psychology). I have worked within various clinic frameworks and have experience treating a variety of mental health and related struggles. I am a CBT Certified Therapist of the Canadian Association of Cognitive Behavioral Therapies (CACBT) and a Certified Therapist in Prolonged Exposure (PE) for PTSD. I match the therapy approach to your struggle and unique situation, which sometimes includes acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), motivational interviewing (MI), solution focused therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), among others. I have participated in and provided clinical supervision and consultation with colleagues practising various therapies. All initial sessions are focused on learning more about your specific circumstances, mental health experiences, strengths, and wishes for your personal wellbeing. Together, we then decide on the treatment approach best suited to your current needs and develop and plan for helping you feel better.

Online therapy, sometimes called virtual care, telehealth, or telepsychology is similar to in-person therapy sessions, but through a secure video conferencing platform instead. When you participate in online therapy you can access the same type of treatment and support as in person sessions from the comfort of your home or wherever you are in Nova Scotia. Individual therapy sessions are offered virtually via private and secure telemedicine platform. Telepsychology sessions can be more comfortable for some people and a useful way to access treatment for most types of mental health struggles. If you want to explore whether online treatment could be clinically useful for you, please reach out. Sessions typically last for 50 minutes with 10 minutes of session report writing.
